Sanjeev Sabhlok

Sanjeev Sabhlok

A former civil servant in India and economist in Victoria, with a range of qualifications in science, business management and a Ph.D. in Economics from USC in LA. I write regularly in Times of India, The Spectator and other newspapers.

I'm Sanjeev Sabhlok, a senior leader of AusReps and the party's candidate for the federal parliament seat of Menzies (VIC).

I joined the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in 1982 in the Haryana cadre. The IAS is the permanent senior civil service of India with the most competitive entrance examination in the world – hundreds of thousands of applicants appear in a series of exams and an interview over the course of one full year, and around 100 are successful each year.

I moved to Melbourne in 2000 and there I worked first in the Victorian WorkCover Authority as an executive, followed by 15 years as a senior economist in Victoria's Department of Treasury and Finance.

I resigned as an economist in the Treasury on 9 September 2020 to protest the violations of human rights and the Police State created by the Daniel Andrews government.
